Armed cops stormed a city centre Edinburgh green space after reports of a man with a gun.
Locals reported the man apparently armed with a firearm in the capital's Nicholson Square around 12.30pm on Sunday.
Specialist firearms officers arrived on the scene and found the man- who turned out to have no weapon.
A 26-year-old man has been arrested and charged and is expected to appear in court at a later date.
A Police Scotland spokesman said that there was no danger to the general public during the incident.
He said: “We were called around 12.30pm on Sunday, 18 July, to a report of a man with what appeared to by a firearm in Nicolson Square, Edinburgh.
"Officers, supported by specialist firearms officers, attended. No dangerous weapon was found and there was no threat to the general public.
“A 26-year-old man was arrested and charged in connection with the incident. He is due to appear at Edinburgh Sheriff Court at a later date.”
