Armed cops carry out search at Fife house

Armed officers carried out a raid on a house in Fife in connection with suspected firearms offences.

Police were called to the property in Thane Place, Dunfermline, at around 7.30pm on Wednesday after receiving information.

Local residents reported seeing a heavy police presence at the scene.

A man was arrested over suspected firearms offences, but was later released without charge.

No weapons were recovered from the scene.

Two marked police vehicles remained in the street on Thursday morning.

A Police Scotland spokesperson said: "On Wednesday, 29 April, as a result of information received, officers assisted by firearms officers searched a house in Thane Place, Dunfermline.

"A man was arrested in connection with suspected firearms offences and released without charge.  

"No weapons were recovered."
