Armed carjackings reported on the South Side: police

Police are warning South Side residents about a string of recent carjackings reported in the past two weeks in Fernwood, Longwood Manor and Washington Heights.

In each incident one or two male suspects approached residents, pulled out a gun and ordered them out of their car, according to Chicago Police.

The robberies happened:

• About 1 a.m. Oct. 12 in the 9900 block of South Wallace Street;

• About 8:30 p.m. Oct. 20 in the 9900 block of South Halsted Street

• About 7:30 p.m. Oct. 23 in the 9700 Block of South Halsted Street

Police described the suspects as 20 to 30-years old, wearing hooded sweatshirts and masks.

Anyone with information on these carjackings is asked to call Area South detectives at 312-747-8273.
