Armed bicycle thief dressed as postman robs €50,000 from transit van in Dublin

Gardai are appealing for witnesses following an incident that occurred in Crumlin, Dublin.

A man that was wearing a full An Post uniform stole €50,000 outside a post office in Dublin. The man was carrying a firearm during the incident.

The theft took place outside a post office in Crumlin Village at around 11:40am.

The thief approached a cash-in-transit employee who had entered the post office with a cash box and produced a firearm before demanding the box.

The unidentified man then escaped on a bicycle down Windmill Road, in the direction of the Kildare Road in Crumlin.

Gardaí are appealing for anyone who may have noticed any unusual activity in the vicinity of Crumlin Village Post Office between 10am – 12.30pm to come forward.

A garda spokesman said: "Gardaí are also appealing to any road users including motorists, cyclists and pedestrians who were in the area at this time and who may have camera footage (including dash cam) to make this available.

"Anyone who has any information in relation to this matter, or who can assist Gardaí, should contact Crumlin Garda Station on 01 666 6200, the Garda Confidential Line on 1800 666 111, or any Garda station."
