As Armando Iannucci’s stint at the Veep office comes to a close after four seasons, the writer/director has announced his next project: a film adaptation of Fabien Nury’s acclaimed graphic novel The Death of Stalin.
The book, which was published in French in 2011, opens with the stroke of the Soviet dictator in March 1953 and shows how his regime unravelled in the days following his death.
It will be his second film, following 2009’s big-screen take in The Thick of It, In the Loop. He also executive-produced 2013’s Alan Partridge movie, Alpha Papa.
No cast details have yet been announced but shooting is due to start in 2016.
