Chelsea striker Armando Broja has completed a permanent transfer to newly promoted Burnley.

The deal is worth as much as £20million with add-ons, and the player has signed a five-year contract, tying him to the club through 2030.

Burnley are investing heavily in the summer transfer window as they bid to survive in the top flight. Broja will mark the 13th permanent signing of the summer, and follows former Chelsea squadmates Lesley Ugochukwu and Bashir Humphreys in trading Stamford Bridge for Turf Moor this summer.

“I am really excited to be here as a Burnley player,” Broja said after signing.

“It’s a really positive time to be joining this club ahead of the start of the new Premier League season. I can’t wait to get going!

“I’m feeling good, I’m ready and I’m excited about the challenge of playing for this club.

“I can already feel the support from the Burnley fans – I can tell you all that I will be giving my all every time I pull on the famous Claret shirt.”

The 27-cap Albania international joined Chelsea’s academy in 2009, making his senior debut in a 4-0 win over Everton in 2020.

Broja struggled to impose himself as a first-team regular at Stamford Bridge after suffering a rash of serious injuries. An ACL tear picked up in December 2022 kept him sidelined for almost a full year.

Since graduating to the first team, Broja spent time on loan with Vitesse, Southampton, Fulham, and Everton, accruing 23 career goals in 132 senior appearances.

He follows Kiernan Dewsbury-Hall in leaving Chelsea this week, but the Blues have plenty more selling to do as they look to offload Raheem Sterling and Ben Chilwell.
