Armadale Thistle announce managerial change for next season as son replaces father in the hotseat

Armadale Thistle have announced that Colin Strickland will replace his retiring father Derek as manager of the Volunteer Park side at the end of the season.

The former Linlithgow Rose striker will be taking his first steps into management with the Dale, where he will be assisted by Colin Leiper - his former team-mate at both the Rose and Thistle.

The elder Strickland announced earlier this month that he would be bringing a close to his remarkable career at the end of the current season.

He enjoyed a playing career that included stints at Rangers and Leicester City before becoming a Scotland Junior internationalist at his local team, Stoneyburn.

His management career has seen him stay in West Lothian with spells at Whitburn and Bathgate Thistle before taking ove the Volunteer Park hotseat seven years ago.

He looks set to bring the curtain down on his career with a promotion party as the Dale are well positioned to secure a top two finish in the East of Scotland Third Division.
