Armadale Academy having event to mark World Mental Health Day

A West Lothian school are hosting a free festival on Thursday to celebrate World Mental Health Awareness Day.

Armadale Connections Festival is festival with music, workshops, stalls, information on college and school life and food. The school are working in partnership with the Scottish Association for Mental Health (SAMH) as they celebrate and inform on the school’s refreshed efforts and ongoing commitment to Health & Wellbeing, as well as Anti-Violence and Anti Bullying.

Armadale Academy are part of a pilot project from SAMH named ‘College Connect’, and have been working intensively with their College Connect Co-ordinator Laura Glennie to create a partnership working on mental health and wellbeing.

Laura hopes to help them with some of their top priorities as a school, which will ultimately help the children to be successful on their journey beyond Armadale Academy.

As well as the festival, pupils from CDT Armadale Academy and Construction at West Lothian College have been collaborating on an outdoor Wellbeing Garden and Reflection Space. The progress from this piece of work – bringing construction and wellbeing together – can be seen in the schools courtyard. The hope for this space is to become an interdisciplinary learning area, quiet space, and engagement platform.

Armadale Connections Festival is on Thursday 10th October from 4pm – 7pm at Armadale Academy and attendance is free.
