Arkansas (1-1) vs. Colorado State (1-1) Game Preview
Why Colorado State Will Win
The Arkansas offense just can’t get going.
It took too much of a fight to get past Portland State, and the O still wasn’t working in the loss to Ole Miss, scoring three points until getting a few late touchdowns.
The offensive line isn’t generating any sort of a push, and the running game isn’t doing enough to help out a passing attack that’s not doing enough down the field.
The overall stats are a bit skewed because of the game against Western Illinois, but Colorado State has a pass rush. Getting into the backfield isn’t a problem the Rams, and they should be able to generate enough third down stops to keep the game within range for a full four quarters.
Why Arkansas Will Win
Colorado State can’t stop shooting itself in the foot. There’s a massive fumbling issue over the first two games, and the six turnovers so far are a problem.
For all of the concerns with Arkansas so far, giveaways aren’t among them. So far, the defense has generated five takeaways helped by a pass rush that’s been the team’s biggest positive.
There’s talent on the Hog offense, but it’s still an inexperienced group with too many parts trying too mesh. Fortunately, there’s a good second option to try out at quarterback, with Texas A&M transfer Nick Starkel stepping in for Ben Hicks. The two might not have been great against the Rebels, but they combined to throw for 300 yards.

What’s Going To Happen
It was the meltdown that signaled the beginning of the end of the Arkansas 2018 season, and it came just a few games in. The Hogs were up 27-9, but gave up 25 unanswered points in a fun win for Colorado State.
The Rams might not need to make that same sort of massive comeback this time around. They’re good enough to win this on the road if the Arkansas offense isn’t able to get the running game going, but a great day from Starkel will be just enough to avoid a loss for a second straight year.
