Arkadiusz Milik and four players Everton can agree free transfer with in January

The January transfer window is open for business giving Everton the chance to add to their squad or move players on.

Whether Carlo Ancelotti makes any signing this month remains to be seen as he has been keeping his cards pretty close to his chest in terms of incomings.

Asked about potential transfers earlier this month, he said: "The only truth is that the market is open. That's it.

"We are not talking about this. We are focused on recovering the players who have not been with us in this moment."

As well as moving players in and out in January, clubs can also negotiate pre-contract agreements with talents from outside their own league who are entering the final six months of their current deals, to sign them on free transfers in the summer.

Could this be an option Everton might look to utilise? If so, here are four players who might fit the bill.

Arkadiusz Milik

Poland striker Milik looks set to leave Napoli when his current contract expires in the summer.

He was linked with Juventus, Roma, Tottenham, Fiorentina and Valencia in the summer but ended up staying put.

However, the 26-year-old has been frozen out and his agent, Fabrizio de Vecchi recently said: "The best clubs in the Premier League, Atletico Madrid and Marseille are interested in Arek."

Everton have emerged as potential suitors, according to reports, as have West Ham United.

Milik played under Ancelotti at Napoli, for whom he has scored 48 goals in 122 appearances.

Sergio Ramos

The Real Madrid legend could leave the Bernabeu when his contract expires at the end of the season, according to reports.

Ramos has enjoyed a trophy-laden career with the La Liga giants - but talks over a new deal are said to have stalled.

Liverpool have been vaguel mentioned as a possible destination for the Spain defender - but he has worked with Ancelotti before, in Madrid.

The likes of Paris Saint-Germain and Tottenham have also been linked with the vastly experienced centre-back.

At 34, he is not a long-term option - but there is certainly no doubting his pedigree and winning mentality.

Julian Draxler

The Germany international is entering the final six months of his contract with Paris Saint-Germain.

Having joined from Wolfsburg in 2017, the winger has not quite been the hit many predicted at PSG.

He has fallen down the pecking order in Paris and endured a difficult campaign last season.

"Last season didn't go well at all," he told Bild. "Not on a sporting level and also due to my injuries.

"Then the season ended due to coronavirus. It was definitely a season to forget for me."

Could the 27-year-old make a fresh start in the Premier League?

Florian Thauvin

Another winger that Everton could look at is Marseille's Thauvin.

The Frenchman has developed into one of Ligue 1's best players in recent seasons.

However, according to Marseille's head of football Pablo Longoria it appears unlikely that Thauvin is going to put pen to paper on a new deal, meaning he would leave the club for free this summer.

Thauvin, 27, has experience of playing in the Premier League, spending two years at Newcastle United from 2015-17.
