An Adelaide disability care worker has been ordered to stand trial over the alleged sexual assault of two female clients in his care.

Arjun Kandel pleaded not guilty in the Adelaide Magistrates Court on Wednesday to two counts of engaging in sexual intercourse without consent.

Court documents allege the 42-year-old abused his position of authority and knew the women were vulnerable due to their mental disabilities when he sexually assaulted them in August last year.

Mr Kandel will face the District Court in July.

South Australian Human Services Minister Michelle Lensink has previously told Parliament Mr Kandel was employed by the Department of Human Services working across a number of sites including supported accommodation before his arrest.

She said the department had reported the alleged assault of two of its clients to police and had taken steps to ensure the affected clients were safe and supported.

Ms Lensink said public health workers and the department had fully cooperated with the investigation and that all residents at the sites where Mr Kandel had worked had been contacted about the situation.

A letter sent to families and friends in September stated Mr Kandel was no longer employed by the department.

Ms Lensink said the National Disability Insurance Scheme Quality and Safeguards Commission were also notified at the time about the alleged offences.
