We’re 49 days away from the NFL draft, so there’s no telling what will happen between the Arizona Cardinals, Kyler Murray and Josh Rosen until that point. But we do know that the NFL world is currently convinced that the Cardinals will take Murray with the No. 1 pick.
That’s the general consensus in Arizona. Yet, if the Cardinals were to keep Rosen, there’s never been a better time to pick up a Josh Rosen Cardinals jersey. One Arizona Nike store has already discounted those Rosen jerseys by 60 percent.
According to Phoenix’s Fox Sports 910AM personality Bo Brack (and a gloriously worded headline straight out of an internet time capsule), the Nike Clearance Store at the Arizona Mills Mall in Tempe was selling Rosen jerseys for $39.99.
That $40 price was marked down from its original retail of $100.
Of course, this was at a clearance store, so Nike products tend to be on sale there. Unless the Cardinals are changing uniforms in 2019 (which would be much-needed), there’s no reason to put a significant markdown on the 2018 No. 10 overall pick’s jerseys unless something was up.
Unfortunately, when For The Win tried to get answers, the Nike store’s listed number went to an automated message that provided the store hours and location. There was no option to talk to an actual, living human, so they’re clearly hiding the truth.
IT MUST BE A SIGN. Or the discount is an odd business decision. One of those.
Update: The Cardinals were able to get in touch with the store. According to a team spokesperson, prices were slashed to make room for new inventory. A Larry Fitzgerald jersey was marked down from $150 to $49.99.
