Arik Armstead’s career year as a pass rusher has been given the 49ers’ defensive line an unexpected element that’s allowed them to climb into the NFL’s elite pass rush units.
Armstead notched his second sack of the day late in the first half to end another Panthers drive. It was the fourth sack of the game for San Francisco, and sack No. 5.5 on the season for the 49ers’ fifth-year defensive lineman.
He’s the team’s new sack leader, taking over Nick Bosa’s spot after Bosa’s fifth sack pushed him past Dee Ford for the team lead earlier in the game. This is going to be a fun statistical race to watch.
