Ariana Grande teases first 'thank u, next' performance inspired by First Wives Club during Ellen interview

Ariana Grande has revealed her debut performance of 'thank u, next' will be on The Ellen DeGeneres Show ( Chris Pizzello/Invision/AP )

Ariana Grande will appear on The Ellen DeGeneres Show to perform her new single “thank u, next”.

The singer took to Instagram to reveal her debut performance of the song, posting a picture of herself with backup singers Tayla Parx and Victoria Moné. She added the caption: “First wives club 2018 ...... @theellenshow tomorrow”.

The trio are all dressed in imitation of a famous scene from the 1996 film The First Wives Club, in which the characters played by Bette Midler, Diane Keaton, and Goldie Hawn sing and dance to the song “You Don’t Own Me”.

She later posted an additional clip of the pre-taped performance, which takes place in front of a wedding-themed backdrop.

Ellen shared the same clip and also tweeted: "In this moment of division, something everyone can agree on... @ArianaGrande looks beautiful in white."

The song is a dedication to Grande’s exes, who she name-checks in appreciation for what they’ve taught her.

The single was released in the aftermath of Grande’shighly-publicised breakup with Saturday Night Live star Pete Davidson, after the pair ended their engagement.
