Ariana Grande suspends world tour until 5 June to pay 'proper respects to those lost'

Ariana Grande has suspended her world tour until 5 June in the wake of the terror attack at her Manchester concert that claimed the lives of 22 people and left dozens more critically injured.

A statement released by the singer said she wanted to pay "proper respects to those lost" after suicide bomber Salman Abedi detonated an explosive device in the foyer of her concert on Monday.

The singer had been due to perform two concerts at London's O2 Arena on Thursday and Friday, which will no longer go ahead.

A statement from Grande's management said: "Due to the tragic events in Manchester the Dangerous Woman tour with Ariana Grande has been suspended until we can further assess the situation and pay our proper respects to those lost.

"The London O2 shows this week have been cancelled as well as all shows through June 5 in Switzerland.

"We ask at this time that we all continue to support the city of Manchester and all those families affected by this cowardice and senseless act of violence.

"Our way of life has once again been threatened but we will overcome this together. Thank you."

The pop star's shows on her Dangerous Woman tour were cancelled until 5 June in London, Antwerp, Belgium, Lodz, Poland, Frankfurt, Germany, and Zurich. All ticketholders will be granted refunds, Grande's team said.

Fans of the singer had been leaving her concert on Monday night when the attack happened.

The singer wrote on Twitter shortly after the bombing: "broken. from the bottom of my heart, i am so so sorry. i don't have words."
