Ariana Grande speaks of 'tremendous heaviness' ahead of Manchester Arena attack anniversary

Ariana Grande has posted a heartfelt message on social media on the eve of the third anniversary of the Manchester Arena terror attack.

The pop star took to Instagram last night (Thursday) to acknowledge the occasion, signing off with a bee emoji.

She spoke of a 'tremendous heaviness' and said her thoughts and prayers were with her fans.

Ariana was made an honorary citizen of Manchester back in 2017, the year that 22 people were killed leaving her concert at the Manchester Arena.

She returned to the city shortly afterwards to lead the huge One Love Manchester benefit concert, with a star-studded line-up that included Take That, Coldplay, Miley Cyrus, Liam Gallagher, Little Mix and Pharrell Williams.

Posting on her Instagram stories, Ariana wrote: "I want to take a moment to acknowledge and send my love to everyone that is feeling the sadness and tremendous heaviness of the anniversary coming up this week.

"Not a day goes by that this doesn't affect u and all of us still.

"I will be thinking of u all week and weekend.

"My heart, thoughts, prayers are with u always."

Ariana is also due to release a new single with Lady Gaga - Rain On Me - tomorrow, on the anniversary itself.

The song is the second single to released from Lady Gaga's upcoming sixth album Chromatica.
