Ariana Grande's mum remembers Manchester on the second anniversary of Arena attack

Ariana Grande's mum has sent a message to Manchester on the second anniversary of the Arena attack.

On May 22 2017, 22 lives were lost in the atrocity as a night of music and joy provided by the 25-year-old pop starlet came to a close.

Joan Grande, who was present at the Arena that night, has today sent another message to the city - which has forcefully allowed love to triumph over hate - on the important date.

"All my love Manchester, today and everyday..." she began, "you are with me always, in my heart and in my mind.

"To ALL of you who have suffered and still suffer from tremendous loss, trauma or devastating injury.. I love you, I send you a warm hug, today and forever."

She finished her heartfelt message with the hashtag #OneLove which was heavily used in the aftermath on the attack and symbolises the city's spirit.

The tweet has been inundated with messages from her daughters fans also expressing their love and support.

Ariana herself has left a simple message so far today after finishing a gig in Dallas.

She simply posted a bee emoji to her Insagram story.

The worker bee has long been a symbol of Manchester and of the city's hard-working past but has become more prevalent since May 2017.

Ariana will make a return to the city later this year to headline Manchester Pride.

It is the first time the singer will have performed here since the One Love benefit concert in 2017.

She is set to perform a sting of shows on her Sweetner World Tour in September this year and has promised her Manchester fans that she will perform a second show in the city which will be announced following her Pride appearance as she Ariana revealed that she was still working on 'something a little more special'.

At 10.31pm tonight, bells will ring out across Manchester city centre as we pay respect to those lives lost and the city's darkest hour.
