Journalists at the Brighton Argus are to stage a second two-day strike next week. Their first stoppage was on 18 November.
Members of the National Union of Journalists are exercised by the loss of six news sub-editors' jobs after a decision by the owners, Newsquest/Gannett, to move subbing work to Southampton.
They are also protesting at being subject to a pay freeze when
Newsquest's chief executive Paul Davidson enjoyed a six-figure pay rise, from £501,000 in 2008 to £609,000 in 2009.
The journalists were also outraged by a statement by Gannett's chief financial officer, Gracia Martore, who told US investment analysts that Newsquest was making healthy profits.
