Argument over Penny Hardaway leads to Memphis man shooting his cousin

Is Penny Hardaway a good coach?

Two Memphis men were debating just that on July 3 before one of them punched the other in the face and then shot him in the chest, police told local CBS affiliate WREG.

Tyrone Taylor was arrested Thursday and charged with second-degree attempted murder and two related gun charges, WREG reported.

Police said the verbal-turned-physical altercation took place between Taylor and his cousin at home in southeastern Memphis.

Hardaway, 48, played at Memphis before his injury-shortened NBA career and has coached the Tigers to a 43-24 record in two years on the job.

That mundane record has been buoyed by a series of headlines, including when Hardaway signed the country's top recruiting class prior to last season and then said his team would win the national championship. The 21-10 Tigers likely would have missed the NCAA Tournament, had it happened.

Police did not say whether Taylor was pro- or anti-Hardaway.
