Argos issues update to customers on store closures during coronavirus pandemic

High street retailer Argos has announced its decision to close all of its UK stand alone stores as a result of the ongoing coronavirus pandemic.

Instead, those who wish to order from Argos can chose the Click and Collect option and pick up their items at Sainsbury's stores.

As a result of the store closures, Argos has also halted its returns process, reports the MEN.

Argos is still offering home delivery but only on a small selection of items.

A message from the brand's CEO, Mike Coupe, reads: "Following the Prime Minister’s announcement, standalone Argos stores are now closed. The Argos website is open as usual and still offering fast delivery, so we can continue to serve you while our shops are shut.

"We would strongly encourage you to order items for home delivery, and to only collect whilst doing your essential food shopping at Sainsbury’s.

"Please note, for the safety of our customers and colleagues, we are limiting the number of customers in our stores. You therefore may need to queue before entering Sainsbury’s to collect your Argos order."

Any purchases made after March 1, 2020 can be returned for up to 30 days after stores reopen.

A statement from Argos reads: "Whilst our standalone stores are closed, we cannot accept any returns.

"However, any purchases made from March 1, 2020, can be returned up to 30 days after our stores reopen. In line with our returns policy, these products will need to be unopened, unused and in their original packaging, with proof of purchase."
