Argos is selling half Christmas trees so your pet can't destroy it as usual

We've all been there - spending hours decorating your Christmas tree only for your cat or dog to rip your hard work to shreds the moment your back is turned.

But this year we can get our own back with a helping hand from the crafty folks at Argos.

With a bare bottom half and the branches starting halfway up, your carefully chosen Christmas decorations should be well out of reach of claws - and little wandering hands.

Argos says the tree is also a great option for those short of space as it's able to slide in next to furniture or simply gives you more room to build a mountain of presents underneath.

It's also a great space-saver (Argos)

The green version is on sale for £40 or for £45 you can add a snowy look .

The online description reads: "Decking the halls can be a tricky task, so make sure you only have to do it once with this 6ft parasol tree.

"It starts halfway up, so your perfectly placed baubles are out of reach from cats and curious kids.

"Easy to build, just slot the pieces together and pull the hinged branches down into place.

"When up and built, give the branches a quick fluffing so they look thick and full."

The best bit is when January rolls around, you can simply pack it back into its box ready for next year.

They're already proving a hit with online shoppers who are leaving glowing reviews.

One customer, leaving a five star rating, wrote: "I loved this random option - I'm short on space and had family coming to stay so this was a perfect alternative to the ridiculously huge real tree I normally buy."

Another said: "I have loved this. It is the first artificial tree I have ever had, always insisting on a real one. However, I chose this for its elegance and look.

"Nothing to do with pets or toddlers! I would definitely recommend this artistic version of a tree."
