Argos confirm plans to close Swansea city centre store

Argos is to close its Swansea city centre store.

The company has confirmed the shop on High Street will shut and relocate to nearby Sainsbury's.

The company says there will no direct job losses with staff also moving to the supermarket.

Earlier this year it was reported Sainsbury's would close 55 stores across the UK over the next five years .

It was also claimed that 70 Argos branches would go.

The chain's plans were to integrate more Argos stores into its supermarkets to coincide with a huge cost-cutting plan.

An Argos spokesperson said:  We have announced plans to relocate our Swansea High Street store to Sainsbury’s Swansea.

"Our colleagues will be offered the opportunity to redeploy.”
