Argos and Sainsbury's urgently recall baby sleeping bag as it poses increased cot death risk

Argos and Sainsbury's are urgently recalling these sleep bags amid fears children could overheat while sleeping which increases the chance of Sudden Infant Death Syndrome (Sids).

The sleeping bags are both labelled as having a 0.5 to 1 tog ratings, but this is incorrect.

Togs are a measurement used to determine how warm bedding and clothes are for the child.

NHS advice recommends using 0.5 to 1 tog bedding in warmer weather and most baby beddings only go up to 3 togs.

The retail giant did not state what tog the sleeping bags actually are during its recall.

The two affected sleeping bags can be identified by their style numbers 134877764 and 134878142. One sleeping bag has a vehicle pattern and the other has a yellow floral pattern.

In a statement A Tu clothing spokesperson said, “We have identified this sleep bag design may exceed its tog rating.”

“We are asking customers to stop using this product immediately and return it for a full refund. We are very sorry for any inconvenience this may cause.”

What is a product recall?

Customers will be given a full refund - and you don't need proof of purchase.
