Argentina fans gather in Edinburgh to celebrate after spectacular world cup win

Hundreds of Argentina fans have gathered on the Royal Mile tonight to celebrate the spectacular world cup win - which is the country's first since 1986.

Dozens of buzzing fans sporting blue and white Argentina tops jumped up and down with pure joy, while singing in the capital's old town as they celebrated the fantastic achievement.

One local who spotted the celebration while walking home after witnessing the incredible match told Edinburgh Live: "We watched the game with friends in the New Town and then walked home past the celebration.

"They were singing in full voice and jumping up and down in celebration.

"Since it went to penalties, I think there was as much relief as joy! Plenty of tourists taking photos as well.

"Argentinian enthusiasm was infectious, so you can see all the passers-by in the photo beaming as they watch the celebrations."

Amazing pictures show the fans outside the Tron on the Royal Mile as they stand proudly and celebrate their country's fantastic win from the other side of the world.

The World Cup Final which took place on December 18 saw, Argentina win the tense penalty shootout 4-2, after what many have described as one of the greatest finals in the tournament's history at Lusail Stadium.

Messi scored twice in the dramatic 3-3 draw against France and rolled in his penalty in the shoot-out as Argentina triumphed 4-2.

The amazing game saw the Argentina captain lead his country's team to their third World Cup title and achieve a career-defining dream.
