Areas police are warning people to lock all windows and doors in

Police have issued a warning following a number of break-ins of homes and vehicles.

Officers from the Wirral branch of Merseyside Police said on Tuesday they had seen an increase in reports of burglary across West Wirral particularly in Pensby over a 72 hour period. In a separate post on Facebook. police said it wasn't just homes being targeted in Wirral, but cars also.

In Bromborough, police received reports of items being stolen from vehicles. Officers said they received reports of thefts on Bridle Road, Greenfields Avenue and Tavern Close in the area.

Police put put out a warning for home and car owners. They said: "Please ensure that: Your windows and doors are locked and secured before going out or to bed, and if you have an alarm, use it. Your house and vehicle keys are kept in a safe place out of sight and away from your letterbox, windows or pet-flaps.

"Your garage or outside shed is locked and secured, especially if they connect to your house, please consider locking items to each other or a fixed item within your garage or shed. If you see anyone acting suspiciously in your neighbourhood, call the police on 101 or in emergency - 999."

They also warned people to make sure their cars are locked overnight and "be vigilant".
