Area-by-area breakdown of Nottingham and Nottinghamshire's 576 new coronavirus cases

Another 576 new coronavirus cases have been recorded in the last 24 hours across Nottingham and Nottinghamshire, according to official statistics released on Sunday (January 17).

The latest public health figures show there have now been 23,691 infections in the city boundary of Nottingham - a rise of 184 - and 39,341 across the wider county - up by 392.

The biggest rises overnight were recorded in Nottingham and Mansfield, where there were 84 new positive tests.

The Government said a further 671 people had died within 28 days of testing positive for Covid-19 as of Sunday, bringing the UK total to 89,261.

Separate figures published by the UK’s statistics agencies for deaths where Covid-19 has been mentioned on the death certificate, together with additional data on deaths that have occurred in recent days, show there have now been 105,000 deaths involving Covid-19 in the UK.

As of 9am on Sunday, there had been a further 38,598 lab-confirmed cases of coronavirus in the UK.

It brings the total number of cases in the UK to 3,395,959.

The number of people in the UK to have been given a first dose of a Covid-19 vaccine is 3,857,266 as of January 16, according to Government data published on Sunday – marking a rise of 298,087 from Saturday's figures.

So far, 449,736 second doses have been administered in the UK.

Ashfield - 6,670 (increase of 69)

Bassetlaw - 5,716 (increase of 26)

Broxtowe - 5,206 (increase of 41)

Gedling - 6,020 (increase of 66)

Mansfield - 5,475 (increase of 84)

Newark and Sherwood - 5,092 (increase of 59)

Nottingham - 23,691 (increase of 184)

Rushcliffe - 5,162 (increase of 47)

Half of all over-80s have been vaccinated against coronavirus, Health Secretary Matt Hancock said on Sunday.

He tweeted: “I’m delighted that over half of all over-80s have been vaccinated.

“Each jab brings us one step closer to normal.

“Stay at home. Protect the NHS. Save lives."
