Later this week, the UK’s first planning applications for full-scale fracking are set to be decided. In Lancashire, county councillor have been advised to refuse the proposals by planning officials and are due to begin deliberations on Wednesday.
Protests have already been taking place across the country - last August, campaigners targeted Cuadrilla at its site in Balcombe. Over the weekend, there were also protests outside energy giant Ineos’ headquarters in Grangemouth, Scotland.
