'Are you serious?' - Robbie Savage can't believe Arsenal fan's verdict on Man City and Liverpool

Robbie Savage has hailed an Arsenal caller as one of the strangest and bizarre ever after the Gunners fan claimed his club would win the league - AND that they have a better squad than both Manchester City and Liverpool.

The former Premier League midfielder spoke to the Gunners fan on BBC Radio 5 Live, where the caller said he “didn’t like the media putting Arsenal down.”

A fair point. However, he then went on to make the bold claim that Arsenal would be 2019-20 Premier League champions.

Savage, after laughing at the fan down the phone, said: “I’ll tell you why you won’t win the league, because Manchester City are by far and away a better side than you, better squad than you, and a better manager than you.

“Liverpool won the Champions League last year, they’re a far better side than you - defensively and going forward.

“Arsenal can’t defend. They make too many errors and are too ill-disciplined in defence.”

The caller, credit to him, stuck by his point, but then made another statement that sparked a similar response from Savage.

He said: “If you look, player-by-player, we are superior to both [Man City and Liverpool].”

“I’d have David Luiz over Virgil van Dijk - van Dijk isn’t that good.”

This obviously ensued in more disbelief from Savage, who captained Derby when they finished with the lowest points total in Premier League history.

“Oh, shut up! Don’t be so stupid,” he said.

“You’d have Luiz over van Dijk, UEFA Player of the Year?!”

“You’re on a wind-up. What a wind-up! Are you being serious?”

“I’m going to thank you for one of the strangest and bizarre calls I’ve ever had on this show!”

The call finished with Savage actually giving credit to the Arsenal fan, praising him for sticking to what is undoubtedly a bold call.

He also promised to call him back at the end of the season to see who has the last laugh.
