Are you ready for more than 100 new emojis?

Impossible to imagine our texting lives without emojis - at least I can’t.

More than a hundred new little designs will join our phones this year, to make our digital conversations even more expressive.

These new designs have been approved by the Unicode Consortium's list - the central bank of approved emoji.

The official website Emojipedia said:

"Announced today by the Unicode Consortium, the 117 new emojis form part of Emoji 13.0 and will come to most platforms in the second half of 2020."

While some of them are just a light way to add more visual fun to online chats - such as the dodo, the bucket and the ninja - others are important inclusive signs.

Among those, a man in a wedding dress and gender-neutral characters, as well as the transgender flag, will be added to our emoji range, to allow more people to be able to express their identity and be represented.

It's a move much welcomed by the LGBT community, as Jeff Ingold, head of media engagement at LGBT campaigns group Stonewall, said: "Taking action to make tools of communication, like emojis, more inclusive and diverse is always a welcome step.

"So we're glad to see the inclusion of more gender-neutral emojis and a trans flag emoji. Visibility is really important and companies can always be thinking of more ways to promote trans equality."

Although no release date has been announced yet, Emojipedia noted that some versions of the new emoji, including the transgender flag and the woman in a tuxedo, are already available on Twitter.
