In perhaps their most expansive action yet, activists opposing a proposed $3.8bn oil pipeline in North Dakota are planning to hold protests in more than 100 cities on Tuesday. Opposition to the Dakota Access Pipeline started months ago, when members of Native American tribes began occupying the construction site. They say the project threatens the local water supply and risks destroying cultural heritage.
Despite an announcement by Barack Obama late on Friday that the federal government would halt construction, calls for more permanent solutions are continuing.
If you are attending a protest on Tuesday, we want to hear from you. Share your photos with us, and tell us why you’re participating in the movement. We’ll feature a selection of your contributions in our coverage.
