Are you feeling a return to the 2000s with this Dolphins throwback render?

Miami Dolphins fans have gravitated en masse to the current throwback kits — a home and away build of the uniforms the Dolphins wore during the glory days of the franchise. Sometimes it is easier to embrace the history and legacy of the past instead of trying to reinvent it moving forward; which seems to be a common theme among Dolphins fans. But the current iteration of the Miami Dolphins’ uniforms isn’t the first time the team has drastically changed the look of the team — that first big change came in the 1990s; when Miami adopted the logo and uniforms that would carry the team through the end of the Dan Marino era, through 1-15 in 2007 and into the 2010s.

And while all throwback renditions for the Dolphins have skipped over this chapter of the team’s look, one graphic designer has built out a render of what a throwback to the 2000s look could look like.

No, this look doesn’t have Super Bowl glory, but watching Zach Thomas, Jason Taylor, Patrick Surtain, Sam Madison and others fly around the field on this kit sure did have a lot of fun memories, too — so did watching Ronnie Brown trounce the Patriots in this look during the debut of the Wildcat offense in 2008. Perhaps it hits a little too close to home, as this look was Miami’s uniform prior to the current ones the team sports. But never the less, we would love to see these make an appearance at some point down the road.

And, unlike the current throwbacks, we’d like to formally file a motion to keep these as a throwback only if they ever actually make the cut! This is a fun look to revisit every now and again, but let’s not make this the standard for the Dolphins each week.
