Are you as clever as a 16-year-old? See if you can answer 14 GCSE questions

Later this month hundreds of thousands of students across the UK will take their GCSE exams.

Whether they were called GCSE or O Levels, or marked A to E or 1 to 10 when you took them, odds are you will remember the revision, stress and countless exams.

Years of accumulating knowledge and figuring out how the world works has left you better equipped to tackle these exams, right?

That may not be the case.

Try our quiz below to find out if you have become sharper and quicker witted than your teenage self, or if years of hard work and evenings at the pub have taken their toll.

Results

12 to 14: If you were a teenager you'd be a certified genius and given a first class ticket to a Russell Group University of your choice,

8 to 11: While you may not be top of the class, as a 16-year-old you could hold your head high on results day.

4-7: Not the results you were after, but that's okay. A stint in summer school and you'll be back up to scratch in time to start your A Levels.

0-3: The years since your GCSEs have not be kind to you. Never mind. When are you ever going to need to name the chemical symbol of silver in real life anyway?

This year's GCSE Results Day is Thursday, August 22.
