'Are we even ready?' — Man United fans have same concern after Premier League fixture release

Manchester United fans aren’t too thrilled with their opening fixture of the 2022/23 season.

The Premier League released its fixtures for the new campaign on Thursday, confirming dates for all 380 games. The new season is set to get under way on Friday, August 5, with Crystal Palace hosting Arsenal in the opening game of the first round of fixtures.

United are then set to take on Brighton on Sunday, August 7 as they kick off their season at Old Trafford. Erik ten Hag then takes his side out on the road for his first away game in charge against Brentford six days later on August 13.

Ten Hag's side then host Liverpool a week later, before rounding off the month with trips to Southampton (August 27) and Leicester (August 30).

United fans will be hoping for a marked improvement from their side this season following the disaster of the 2021/22 campaign, that saw their side record the club's lower points tally in the Premier League era. But supporters haven’t been left too encouraged by their opening fixture though.

Supporters will still have bad memories of their last meeting with Brighton, which saw United thrashed 4-0 in their penultimate game of last season. Many fans aren’t feeling too confident ahead of coming up against Graham Potter’s side once again.

While fixtures have been confirmed for the new season, it's not yet known which fixtures will be moved for live TV coverage, with any changes being announced in the coming days and weeks. There's also a big change in the schedule, with domestic fixtures being put on hold to accommodate the World Cup in Qatar in November and December.
