Are Wall Street Analysts Bullish on Ameriprise Financial Stock?

Ameriprise Financial, Inc. (AMP), valued at $48 billion by market cap, is a leading diversified financial services firm headquartered in Minneapolis, Minnesota. Founded in 1894, the company has a long-standing history of providing comprehensive financial planning and advice. Ameriprise operates through three primary business segments: Advice & Wealth Management, Asset Management, and Retirement & Protection Solutions.

AMP shares have outperformed the broader market over the past year. AMP has gained 17.4% over this time frame, while the broader S&P 500 Index ($SPX) has rallied nearly 11.6%. However, in 2025, AMP stock is down 2.8%, compared to $SPX’s marginal rise.

Zooming in further, AMP has also surpassed the Financial Select Sector SPDR Fund (XLF), which has gained about 22.4% over the past year and 5.4% in 2025.

Ameriprise Financial released its first quarter earnings on Apr. 24, and its shares dropped 1.7% in the next trading session. Adjusted operating earnings rose 13% year over year to $9.50 per share, while total adjusted operating revenues increased 5% to $4.35 billion. Assets under management, administration, and advisement reached $1.5 trillion, up 2% from the previous year.

For the current year ending in December, analysts expect AMP’s EPS to grow 7.2% to $36.82 on a diluted basis. The company’s earnings surprise history is mixed. It beat the consensus estimates in three of the last four quarters while missing the forecast on another occasion.

Among the 14 analysts covering AMP stock, the consensus is a “Moderate Buy.” That’s based on five “Strong Buy” ratings, two “Moderate Buy,” six “Holds,” and one “Strong Sell.”

This configuration is more bullish than it was two months ago, with four analysts recommending a “Strong Buy.”

On May 7, Keefe, Bruyette & Woods analyst Ryan Krueger reaffirmed a "Market Perform" rating on Ameriprise Financial, while slightly raising the firm's price target from $510 to $520, reflecting a modestly improved outlook.

The mean price target of $531.75 represents a 2.8% premium to AMP’s current price levels. The Street-high price target of $602 suggests an upside potential of 16.3%.
