The Olympic Wing Flavour Series has launched at Beerhaus Kotara. Until August 31 diners can celebrate the games with a range of limited-edition Olympic Wings: Team Australia (chicken salt); Italy (Italian herbs and garlic); India (tandoori); Japan (teriyaki); Korea (Korean BBQ); Great Britain (salt and vinegar); USA (Nashville); Jamaica (Caribbean jerk); China (five spice); and Thailand (green curry. Diners pick a sauce or rub for their classic, boneless, fried, or cauliflower wings. It's all a bit of fun.
Vive la France
Pork Ewe Deli at Mayfield is celebrating Bastille Day, the Tour de France and Christmas in July with some French-themed take-home meal packs. There's the DIY Cheat's Cassoulet Recipe Pack (two people $119; four people $169); the French Cheese Platter (from $69); the French Feast ($99); and the DIY Tartiflette Recipe Pack (from $39).
Fluffy rainbows on the menu
The Flossery at Wallsend has a new menu and there are loads of flavours to choose from. The store now offers delivery by mail Australia wide, too. Orders must be in by 6pm on Friday to be sent via post the following Tuesday. Or you can pop in to the store at 61 Robert Street on Friday or Saturday.

Digging deep for school kids
Mischief Kitchen at Belmont South ran a collection last Christmas for local group The School Bag Project and received a carload of school bags and stationary items which have since been delivered to Zara's Place (a Newcastle refuge for those escaping domestic violence). What a wonderful initiative.
