Are these Nottinghamshire cafes, pubs and restaurants the best in the East Midlands?

Cafes, pubs, food shops and restaurants in Nottinghamshire have made it into the finals of the Great Food Club Awards.

The annual awards celebrate the best independent food and drink businesses across the East Midlands. Nearly 6,000 votes were cast by the club's readers.

Notts businesses made it down to the final four in nine of the 15 categories.

A team of judges will decide the winners, who will be announced in October.

The county's finest dominated the shortlist for best cafe. The Crimson Tree, Sherwood, Bread & Butterflies, West Bridgford, and All Mine Cakes, near Southwell, will go head to head.

Contenders for the best classic pub are The Frame Breakers, Ruddington, and The Marquis of Granby, in Granby.

Nottingham's Michelin-starred Alchemilla, is up for best best dining restaurant and Japanese grill restaurant Kushi-ya, in the city centre, is up for best world cuisine.

In a new street food category, Nottingham Street Food Club regular Smoqued Taqueria, is up against three Leicestershire finalists.

The Bottle Top in Ruddington is a finalist in the Small Deli category, while Maxey's and Welbeck farm shops are both in the running for the region's top food shop.

Beauvale Priory Bakehouse, Moorgreen, and The Bakehouse, have made the final four for best bakery.

In another new category, Nottingham's Craig Floate has made the shortlist for best private chef.
