Are theme parks open for Easter? Opening dates and where they fall in the holidays

The Easter holidays are upon us, and once again parents are having to find ways to keep the kids entertained during lockdown.

For those hoping to visit theme parks and other attractions, your school's holiday dates will be a key factor as only a few will overlap with their reopening.

That's because in England, outdoor attractions are set to reopen their doors from April 12, and a number of theme parks including Alton Towers, Thorpe Park and Legoland are working to that date for a reopening.

If you fall before that, outdoor attractions will be closed. Anyone who is still on holiday from April 12 should in theory be able to enjoy days out at theme parks, provided the roadmap goes ahead as planned.

We've put together a wider guide with more UK theme parks' planned reopening dates and as some are wider resorts, we've also included the key dates for the reopening of their hotels, other accommodation, water parks and more.

In Wales and Scotland, it's hoped that a number of attractions could begin to reopen their doors from April 26.

Some restrictions across the UK have already begun easing. For example, in England you can meet outdoors with others under the 'rule of six', while in Wales you can book a holiday with your household provided you're in self-contained accommodation.

Still, recent research has unveiled that theme parks remain some of the top attractions that Brits are most excited about visiting when lockdown ends.

In fact, a list of the top 40 attractions Brits can't wait to visit when restrictions lift included spots such as Alton Towers, Blackpool Pleasure Beach, Thorpe Park, Legoland Windsor, Chessington World of Adventures and Peppa Pig World at Paultons Park.

When theme parks do reopen, there'll be plenty on offer for fans too with heaps of new lands and rides set to open this year, from Legoland's brand new Mythica land with three rides to Paultons Park's new land Tornado Springs with EIGHT new attractions.
