Are the Broncos going to trade cornerback Chris Harris?

The Broncos (2-5) parted ways with one of the top receivers in franchise history on Tuesday, trading Emmanuel Sanders to the 49ers (6-0) for extra draft picks. With the NFL’s trade deadline less than a week away, some fans in Denver are wondering if cornerback Chris Harris might be traded, too.

Broncos general manager John Elway was asked during a conference call with reporters Tuesday if the team will make any more trades.

“Possibly,” Elway said. “I don’t know yet. We’ll see how it goes.”

Elway was asked if the team has received any calls about Harris and he said “no, not lately,” confirmation that teams did call a few weeks ago. The Texans were interested in Harris but opted to instead trade a third-round pick to the Raiders for Gareon Conley, according to KUSA-TV’s Mike Klis.

Right now, it looks like Harris will play against the Colts in Week 8. After the game, teams will have two days before the deadline to make a move. Asked about trade rumors on Tuesday, Harris said he is focused on Indianapolis and covering wide receiver T.Y. Hilton on Sunday.

“I can’t go into that game with any distractions,” Harris said. “He’s a great receiver and they’ve got a great team, so I’ve got to have my mind clear, my mind right and ready to go.”

Harris said he hasn’t had any conversations with Elway about his future and his stance that he would like to retire a Bronco has not changed.

“Nothing’s changed,” Harris said. “Obviously, we haven’t — nobody has come to me about anything, so I’m just playing football every week and taking it one week at a time. Of course, there are rumors with everything going on out there, but we’ve got to be focused on the Colts. The season is not lost yet, so I’m not hanging — I’m not throwing the season in the dump yet. It’s not lost yet.”

Harris, 30, has totaled 19 tackles and one interception this season.
