Are the BAFTA TV awards live and what time are they on? Behind closed doors ceremony airs on BBC1

The BAFTA TV Awards are being he;d 'behind closed doors' for the first time in their history on Friday night.

Usually the red carpet is rolled out in London for the annual ceremony as big names from the small screen gather to see if they're taking home any trophies.

And, while the BAFTA TV Award nominations for 2020 include globally famous stars, none of them will be in attendance as host Richard Ayoade is the master of ceremonies at TV Centre in Wood Lane for the largely virtual event.

Stars like Stacey Dooley and Emily Atack are set to make an appearance in person, while the pre-show will feature Daisy Edgar-Jones, Youssef Kerkour, Jodie Comer and Sian Clifford.

Among the shows set to take home the spoils this year are Chernobyl, The Crown and Killing Eve.

According to BAFTA's official Twitter account, they are indeed and you'll be able to watch them on BBC1 at 7pm. There is also the option to watch the Virgin Media pre-show on Facebook, YouTube and Twitter.

The BAFTA TV Award live show will be opened and closed by Tim Minchin. He’ll open the show with a new 'lockdown anthem' written for the event and he’ll close with ‘Carry You’, which he wrote for his TV Series Upright.

If you aren't a home to catch Friday night's ceremony, or don't live in the UK, a compilation of highlights with put on YouTube.
