Ketan Mehta to bring freedom fighter-aunt Usha Mehta’s life to screen and Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar are top choices for the role.
Recently, reports were doing the rounds that Karan Johar is backing a movie on freedom fighter Usha Mehta. Now, it looks like the life and achievements of the freedom fighter have inspired another storyteller.
Ketan Mehta, who is a nephew of Usha Mehta, will be making a film on her. According to a report in a news portal, the filmmaker is drafting the final script. He has also reportedly begun pre-production simultaneously, and is aiming to kick off the film by late 2021.
The report also added that Ketan has narrowed down his choices for the lead to Taapsee Pannu and Bhumi Pednekar. Both the actresses are currently busy with their work current commitments. The makers are hoping to lock the casting by November this year.
Taapsee and Bhumi have worked together earlier in ‘Saand Ki Aankh’. The film is based on the life of Chandro Tomar and Prakashi Tomar, grandmothers from Baghpat, who were both ace shooters and earned accolades for their shooting skills. Directed by Tushar Hiranandani, the film received positive reviews from the audience and the critics alike.
Meanwhile, on the work front, Bhumi will next be seen in films like, 'Badhaai Do' co-starring Rajkummar Rao and 'Raksha Bandhan' co-starring Akshay Kumar in lead roles.
Taapsee, on the other hand, has her kitty full with some interesting films like, 'Shabhash Mithu', 'Rashmi Rocket', 'Loop Lapeta', 'Woh Ladki hai Kahan?', 'Dobaaraa' and others.
