Tips and recycling centres across the UK are beginning to reopen, but with strict social distancing rules in place to protect staff and visitors.
Rubbish tips closed at the start of the coronavirus lockdown, and have been shut for seven weeks.
The government has issued guidelines for their reopening - but there is no one-size-fits-all approach, and local councils have each decided which rubbish tips to reopen.
They have also set their own rules, taking into account the individual demands and challenges for each region of the country.
Here's what you need to know:
What can you take to the tip?
Most rubbish tips are only accepting black bag waste and garden waste that is not collected at the kerbside, and cannot be stored safely at home.
Some will also be accepting cardboard and other materials for recycing. You should check the website of your local rubbish tip before setting off.
What are the rules?
Staff will not be allowed to assist customers, and only one person will be allowed out of the car - so you must be able to unload and dispose of your waste on your own.
With very high demand and one-in, one-out policies in operation, you should expect long queues. Some rubbish tips will have a cut off system, so if the queue gets too long you may be asked to go home and come back later.
You must remain two metres away from other people, and you will be asked to leave if you don't respect the rules, or if you abuse the staff.
Many local authorities have adopted a system whereby you can only visit the tip on certain days.
If the last number on your licence plate is even, you can go on an even date (eg. 20 May, 22 May, 24 May). If the last number is odd, you can go on odd dates.
You should check if this is the case at your local council, and visit on the appropriate day.
Some tips will ask for proof of address, so once again, you should check whether this is required at your local tip before setting off.
