Former Chelsea and Tottenham defender Jason Cundy believes red-hot Rangers should be considered among the best teams in Europe.
Steven Gerrard's side remain undefeated in all competitions and topped their Europa League group on the march to the last 32.
Rangers defeated Lech Poznan and Standard Liege in both fixtures and were involved in two thrilling draws with big-hitters Benfica en route to a table-topping effort in Group D.
And now the impressed radio host has floated the idea that, perhaps, they are the finest team currently plying their trade on the continent due to their current exploits.
The 51-year-old admits the runaway Premiership leaders would find it difficult against the Champions League big boys but believes the Ibrox side are, pound for pound, one of the finest sides around.
Speaking on talkSPORT, Cundy said: "Are Rangers, based on games played, the best side in Europe?”
“They’re 26 games unbeaten, goals conceded is ridiculously low. He (Gerrard) has got them playing, another brilliant away result in Europe. They topped their group.
"Just on stats alone, I’m not comparing them with the likes of Bayern but statistically are they the best team in Europe right now?”
A host of pundits were also quick to praise Rangers after their 2-0 win in Poland as they go into the hat for Monday's draw in Nyon.
And Ally McCoist had nothing but kind words for his former team as the maintained their brilliant start to the season.
He said: "It was a great performance again from Rangers. A smashing result, clean sheet, top of the group.
"The money is vital and winning the group makes a difference in terms of the opposition in the next round. All in all, a wonderful night for Gerrard.”
