The UK is set to enter its second national lockdown this Thursday, with non-essential stores, restaurants, pubs and more to close their doors until December 2.
With restaurants, bars and pubs among the huge list of businesses which must close , many have been left wondering about their favourite takeaways or fast food chains.
Government guidance says that while hospitality venues like restaurants, bars and pubs must close, they can still provide takeaway and delivery services. Takeaway of alcohol will not be allowed.
We’ve taken a look at some of the most popular chains, including McDonald’s, KFC and Burger King, to see what they’ll be offering during the second lockdown.
Here’s what they said:
McDonald’s
In an update to customers, McDonald’s CEO Paul Pomroy confirmed that while McDonald’s restaurants would be closed for dining in, the chain will still offer takeaway, drive-thru and delivery.
He said: "Following the latest announcements from the Prime Minister, I wanted to share an update on our plans to continue serving your McDonald’s favourites safely.

"At 00:01am on Thursday we will close our dining areas across England but, in line with Government guidance, we will remain open for takeaway, Drive Thru and McDelivery via Uber Eats and Just Eat."
KFC
Fast food giant KFC has yet to confirm whether it will remain open during lockdown, but it has been offering delivery and drive-thru options in Wales since the two went into ‘circuit breaker’ lockdown, so it’s very possible the same will continue across the UK.
Burger King
Burger King will continue to offer delivery and drive-thru options during lockdown. Delivery is available through Deliveroo and JustEat, and drive-thrus remain open.
Greggs
The bakery chain has confirmed customers will still be able to order food for takeaway and delivery.
Greggs delivery can be ordered through Just Eat, while click and collect can be done through the Greggs website or through the free Greggs Rewards app.
Subway
Subway has yet to confirm if it will continue to operate during lockdown, though the company does currently offer delivery via JustEat, UberEats and Deliveroo.
The chain also offers Click and Collect, though it is unclear if this will continue.
Five Guys
Five Guys will continue to offer takeaway and delivery during lockdown.
Takeaway can be ordered through the Five Guys website and app, while delivery is available through Deliveroo.
