Are Jake Paul and Tana Mongeau married? The YouTube couple tease nuptials with an engagement photo shoot

On Wednesday, YouTubers Jake Paul and Tana Mongeau set tongues wagging when they released images from their engagement photoshoot on Instagram.

The photos featured soft colours, Mr & Mrs props and a number of iced out rings on Tana’s fourth finger. Paul also teased fans with a hint that their wedding was due to take place the same day, geotagging his gallery “MarriageToday”.

Though it appears Paul might have jumped the gun, as Mongeau clarified on Twitter that it was “FAKE NEWS” after outlets began reporting they were married. She tweeted, “We’re still engaged b**ch you’ll know when we have a wedding”.

The photos, which were mistakenly taken for wedding pictures, were clarified as an “engagement photo shoot” but in an additional post Mongeau also showed some racy behind-the-scenes pictures from the shoot.

Mongeau also created a hashtag for the couple called #ThePauls and wrote in her caption, “bet you didn’t think we’d be engaged for this long…”

Paul also shouted out fellow YouTuber Shane Dawson in his post, saying that the documentary maker “made this possible”. Shane Dawson has previously made a documentary mini-series on both YouTube celebrities - one about Mongeau’s ill-fated convention Tana Con and another about Jake Paul titled, “The Mind of Jake Paul” which attempted to psychoanalyse the star.

After a whirlwind romance, Mongeau and Paul got engaged at the end of June in a public display which saw Paul surprise Mongeau on stage in Las Vegas.

Paul, whose channel features daily vlogs with a club of individuals he calls Team 10, was pictured giving Mongeau a three-tiered black and white wedding cake topped with an engagement ring and the words “Will you marry me, Tana?”

Mongeau posed beside the cake and Paul, holding up an engagement ring. Mongeau wrote, “when ur real life engagement raises ur instagram engagement > HI FIANCEE”

Pop singer Billie Eilish commented simply, “yikes.”

Following the announcement, Mongeau's ex Bella Thorne took to Instagram to post a selfie of herself crying. The former Disney star captioned it, "when ur ex gets engaged" along with a string of sad emojis.

Thorne and Mongeau dated for just over a year and were in a polyamorous relationship with rapper Mod Sun. Mongeau responded to Thorne's post in the comments, writing, "omg".

While Paul and Mongeau have moved in similar circles in the Los Angeles YouTube community, their romance is a relatively new development. The pair have been seeing each other for just over two months publicly and have shared a lot of the relationship with their massive social media followings. (Paul has 19 million followers on YouTube and 12.2 million on Instagram, while Mongeau has 4.6 million followers on YouTube and 4.2 million on Instagram.)

But from buying a new Mercedes together through to staging family photo shoots with Paul’s young relatives, the pair have been accused by some of faking their relationship. In response, Paul released a video on his channel on Saturday titled “To the PEOPLE who think we aren’t ACTUALLY engaged” to address the backlash.

Mongeau revealed, “Yesterday we were having a meeting planning our wedding which is real, because we’re really engaged and no one believes us.”

She also said “f**k you” to anybody who didn’t believe their engagement was real. The pair also revealed they were planning to sign a prenuptual agreement.
