Are Irish beaches open? Those who can and cannot hit the seaside as Met Eireann forecast hottest days of the year

Temperatures across Ireland will reach as high as 29C on Thursday, but not everyone will be allowed to hit the seaside.

With sun holidays out of the question this summer, most people will be trying to make the best of this beautiful period of weather.

But just because the sun is out doesn't mean the rules go out the window with it.

Social distancing guidelines and all the rules in phase one of the reopening plan still apply and gardai will be out in force to make sure people are abiding by the restrictions.

Are beaches open?

As of phase one of the plan, beaches across the country opened again on Monday, May 18.

This is provided that social distancing can be maintained on them.

Can I go to the beach?

The majority of people still won't be allowed to head to the beach as the 5km travel limit is still in place.

Only those living within the 5km radius of beaches around the country can head there to sunbathe, swim and enjoy the view.

How long will the lovely weather last?

Wednesday, Thursday and Friday will all see temperatures pass the 25C mark and it's looking good for the weekend too.

A Met Eireann forecaster said: "Saturday and the rest of the weekend continue in the same vein with dry, sunny weather, light to moderate southeast winds and temperatures in the mid to high twenties widely across the country.

"Overnight lowest temperatures of 9 to 11 degrees with the warm dry spell looking to continue in to next week."
