Eagles and DeSean Jackson looking to reunite after he says ‘goodbye’ to Tampa?

On Monday morning, ESPN’s Jenna Laine and Tim McManus reported that the Tampa Bay Buccaneers have been trying to trade receiver DeSean Jackson, and he could be released.

Jackson reportedly would prefer to end up back with the Philadelphia Eagles, the team who drafted the former Cal Golden Bears receiver 49th overall in 2008. Jackson for his part believes he’s done in Tampa, and just posted a goodbye message on Instagram.

ESPN’s Chris Mortensen just confirmed that there is mutual interest on both parties if Jackson does indeed get his release.

Jackson’s base salary for 2019 is $10 million, and it’s not guaranteed, while the Bucs currently have less than $3.5 million in cap space. Jackson averaged a league 18.9 yards per catch last season, a year in which he had 44 catches for 774 yards and four touchdowns.

For the Eagles, the team could use a deep threat, and even at 32, Jackson would be the best on the market.
