Are Cheltenham races on today? 2019 Festival set to get all-clear for rest of the week after weather fears

Racing looks set to get the all-clear for the rest of the Cheltenham Festival after fears over high winds dissipated.

Fears that winds of up to 50mph could cause the postponement of Wednesday’s racecard as it was in 2008.

But these concerns were allayed by the inspection at 6am this morning, with clerk of the course Simon Claisse deciding that the “prospect of higher wind speeds and gusts have receded”.

5.30pm Champion Bumper

Course officials will monitor the weather forecast but it is not expected that Friday’s Gold Cup, in which Native River is set to defend his crown, and other races over the next two days will be moved to Saturday.
