Are Brentford really Nottingham Forest's bogey side? Here's the truth

Nottingham Forest welcome Brentford to the City Ground on Saturday.

Sabri Lamouchi's men head into the game unbeaten in nine league outings and fourth in the table.

And yet Forest fans could be forgiven for feeling a little less confident than those statistics might warrant.

Why? That's because the Bees have a reputation of stinging when they play against the Reds.

Brentford are regarded as one of Forest's bogey teams, but should that be the case?

We have taken a look at their record against the Bees in recent years to find out.

Forest went seven years without meeting the London club after 2007, when they won the last of three successive wins.

But when Brentford got to the Championship, the tide turned.

Forest went six games without beating the Bees, losing five and drawing once.

Since then, though, they have won two of five meetings, also winning the last meeting between the two sides, in February.

Overall that takes Forest's record against Brentford in recent years to seven defeats, two wins and one draw.

That doesn't make for pretty reading.

But bogey side? Not quite.

The Reds aren't far behind in the overall battle between the two clubs, losing 12 and winning 11 of all competitive meetings.

The two sides have shared eight draws.
