Ardoyne shooting claims the life of one man

Police are investigating a murder in North Belfast.

An area has been sealed off in the Ardoyne district of the city. Police initially said they were investigating a "shooting".

However, in a statement released shortly after 1pm, they said they "can confirm a man has died following a shooting in north Belfast. Officers remain at the scene at Etna Drive".

A number of police are in the Etna Drive area. It is understood a car has been found burned out in nearby Jamaica Road, however it has not yet been confirmed if this is connected to the shooting.

In a brief statement police said earlier they were “responding to reports of a shooting in Etna Drive, in North Belfast”.
