Light is safety. Darkness is not. The fade is evil and dark. Marina, the protagonist, suffers memory loss, she doesn't know who she is and where she came from. The Fade always seems to interest her although she knows they aren't good, she can't help but assist them…
I wasn't expecting anything good going into the book, just an average young adult dystopian book. The storyline wasn't intriguing to me and the characters weren't relatable. However, I didn't want to put it down as I felt guilty for starting and not finishing it, so I kept on reading. This was an extremely fantastic thing as I found myself attached to the book – I wanted to know more. As much as there are bad things about this book, there are many great things which overpower the bad stuff. For example the love in the book, especially with Marina and Rue, their relationship is so strange but beautiful. I really want to read the rest of the series as I want to know more about the Fade and Rue.
I do recommend this book but you would have to go into the book with an open mind and not give up on it. It is a bit slow paced, but near the end the pace is picked up. Light is everything but what about love?
